Thank you to everyone who joined our summer school program this year at Star Kids! It was a hot summer again but we still managed to have a great time indoors and learn so many new things.
We started the first week off by diving deep into the sea and exploring ocean animals together. The children made shark hats and chomped around the room like little baby sharks! They were extra creative and ingenious when they created their own ocean animals. We also made beautiful turtles with colorful quilt patterned shells.
The second week, all the children explored the solar system. They learned about and painted the moon, sun and planets. Then everyone made a shiny rocket with metallic origami which came out so vibrant and chic!
After that we were off to ninja training camp. All the children were trained on stealth using a padded obstacle course. They threw origami ninja stars at their favorite characters for target practice! The children had so much fun seeing them rolling around and posing after shooting their best shots.
For science week we used classroom and kitchen materials to conduct experiments together! The children stabbed a water filled bag with pencils–and the bag didn’t leak one bit!! They compared what classroom items sink or float together and recorded their observations. We usually don’t put our pencils in water! Everyone blew bubbles together and mixed primary colors to make a rainbow!
The last week was dedicated to world famous artists and recreating their work. The children learned about Picasso, Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol and more. Every day was full of painting, pasting and self expression.

サマースクール２０２５
今年もStar Kidsのサマースクールプログラムにご参加いただいた皆様、本当にありがとうございました！今年の夏も暑かったですが、室内で楽しく過ごしながら、たくさんの新しいことを学ぶことができました。
最初の週は、海の中を探検し、海の生き物について学びました。子どもたちはサメの帽子を作って、部屋の中を小さなベビーシャークのように「ガブガブ」しながら歩き回りました！自分だけの海の生き物を作るときは、とても創造的で工夫にあふれていました。カラフルなキルト模様の甲羅を持つ美しいカメも作りました。
2週目は、みんなで太陽系を探検しました。月や太陽、惑星について学び、絵を描きました。そのあと、メタリックな折り紙を使ってキラキラのロケットを作りました！とても鮮やかでおしゃれな仕上がりになりました！
その次は、忍者トレーニングキャンプです。子どもたちは柔らかい障害物コースで忍び足の訓練をしました。お気に入りのキャラクターに向かって折り紙の手裏剣を投げて、的当て遊びもしました！転がったり、ポーズを決めたりして、とても楽しんでいる様子でした。
サイエンスウィークでは、教室やキッチンにある材料を使って一緒に実験をしました！水の入った袋に鉛筆を刺しても、水が漏れないことにみんなびっくり！また、教室の中の物を使って「沈むかな？浮くかな？」を比べ、観察記録もしました。普段は鉛筆を水に入れることなんてないですよね！みんなでシャボン玉を吹いたり、三原色を混ぜて虹を作ったりもしました。
最後の週は、世界的に有名なアーティストたちとその作品について学ぶ時間でした。子どもたちはピカソ、ゴッホ、フリーダ・カーロ、アンディ・ウォーホルなどについて学びました。毎日が絵を描いたり、貼り絵をしたり、自分を表現する時間でいっぱいでした。
