This summer was extra exciting at Star Kids. We had several friends, old and new, join us for Summer School 2024. Our curriculum was designed to guide and encourage children to come out of their shells and express themselves. We saw amazing improvement in all students’ language development and confidence.
We spent the first week celebrating our favorite vehicles! We made the cutest crafts and sang some songs about fire trucks, police cars, and buses! In our free time we relaxed with some yoga. When it was too hot to go outside, we managed to get our energy out with exercise and balloon parties!
The second week of summer school was all about robots. Children were able to design their own colorful robots using craft paper, paper bags, glue, sequins, and foil! The most exciting activity was their group project. Each of the children took turns adding parts into one massive robot!
During the third week, we learned about frogs! The children made toys like a cup and ball game (kendama) and raced origami frogs to the finish line. They loved to pretend to be frogs after they made their own frog hats out of paper.
The fourth week was all about pirates! We had a special treasure hunt and learned a silly pirate dance.
We finished our last week of summer school using our imaginations to create monsters together! The children were able to design monsters using so many colors and materials.

今年の夏もStar Kidsのサマースクールはもりもりわくわく楽しかったです！新しいお友だちも、懐かしいお友だちも参加してくれました。 クリエイティブ系のカリキュラムを通し、子ども達の発想力と自己表現力が芽生えるように作られており、 参加した子ども達の英語力と自信の成長が見られました。
1週目はみんなの大好きな乗り物がテーマで、大変エンジョイできました。バスや、パトカーや、消防車などの人気の乗り物について可愛い制作をしてみたり、ノリノリとダンスするアクティビティもありました。そして、たまには子ども向けのヨガレッスンで、リラックスしました。今年は猛暑日が続き、室内で運動や、風船パーティーでエネルギーを発散しました。
２週目はロボットについて学びました。子ども達は紙袋、画用紙、のり、キラキラ、アルミホイールなどを使って、様々なロボットを組み立ててみました。全員で協力し合いながら、一つの大きいロボットを作るアクティビティが一番盛り上がりました。1人ずつ好きなパーツを好きな部分に足し付けて、みんなのロボットが完成しました。
３週目のテーマはカエルでした。子ども達はカエル風のけん玉を作るのが楽しそうでした。そして折り紙のカエルで競争をしました。カエルのお顔の帽子を画用紙で作った時は、子ども達全員一気に可愛らしいカエルさんになり切り、ごっこ遊びまでできちゃいました。
４週目は海賊のテーマでした。みんなでおちゃらけたパイレーツダンスでワイワイと踊りました。宝物探しも楽しかったです。
サマースクールの最後の一週間は、みんなでモンスターを作って、子ども達のイマジネーションを活かしました。子ども達は、色んな材料を利用して、カラフルで個性的なモンスターを何匹も誕生させました。
