Staying Healthy

Staying Healthy

Hello again everyone! Well, it seems spring is finally here. We’ve seen the plumb blossoms bloom and it won’t be long now before we see our first glimpse of the cherry blossoms. We’ve also had a lot of mixed weather recently, sunny and warm one day, cold and rainy the next. With all the changes it can be hard to know what clothes to put on in the morning, and it can be even harder staying healthy!

We all know how important staying healthy is, that’s why we have been studying all about hygiene and the best ways of staying healthy in class! Most recently we have been learning about germs, talking about the different ways germs can spread and we’ve become hand washing experts!

We’ve also made some fantastic crafts and played some fun games while learning all about germs, keeping clean, and staying healthy. Take a look at the pictures below and share the fun!

Speaking of photos, you may notice we have two new students here at Star Kids. They have only been with us two weeks and they are already loving it! Our little school is growing and we couldn’t be happier. If you are looking for a preschool for your child, why not give us a call or send us an email? We would love to meet you! Story Time

Adding to our favorites, we have been reading “Harry, the Dirty Dog” by Gene Zion, in addition to current favorite “Dear Tooth Fairy” by Alan Durant. Another new one is “It’s MY Body” by Lory Freeman. This last one is good for teaching children ways to respond to unwanted touching. It’s especially good for the younger children who are still learning to communicate physically, emotionally and verbally.

Circle Time and Active Time Songs

To keep things fresh at Star Kids we like to add new songs and dances to our daily class routine, while keeping many of our old favorites too. Of course, our main Circle Time songs (hello Song, days of the week, months of the year, how’s the weather) remain the same, but we keep adding more and more.

Here are some of the new songs we have been singing in class:

Rain rain go away
Rain is falling down
Bend with the wind
B.I.N.G.O.

For more songs (including video links) please check our previous blog updates here (http://starkids-japan.com/health-and-safety/) and here(http://starkids-japan.com/setsubun-fun/). Please check the YouTube links below for some of our new songs.

Here are some videos you can watch at home. I’ve added links to some of the songs we sing in class (sorry, I could find links to all of them this time) plus there are some great videos here to help children learn about staying healthy.
